Postgraduate studies

The postgraduate degrees are the licentiate and the doctoral degrees of Education. These degrees can be pursued only after completing a Master's level degree. Postgraduate students are required to carry out independent research work and familiarise themselves extensively with research carried out in their field of study.

The doctoral degree normally requires at least four years of full-time study, including independent research work, course work as well as the publication and defence of a research dissertation.

The application period for postgraduate studies is twice a year. (0n August 31st and on January 31st.) Applicants must have a Master's degree equivalent to the Finnish Master's degree in the field of Education and a good knowledge of English or Finnish. The application form can be found from the link above.

The last application on the list above is to be used when the student has completed his/her doctoral degree and is ready to apply for the certificate of Doctoral Degree.
