TRI2: ETHICAL ISSUES IN EDUCATIONAL RESEARCH

Participants: All PhD students of the Doctoral Programme of Education.
Purpose: This course aims to deepen students’ understanding concerning the ethical issues related to the designing, conducting and reporting of a research. The specific focus is ethical problems that are related especially to the research done in the field of education.

TRI 3A: QUALITATIVE RESEARCH METHODS AND DATA ANALYSIS

Participants: All PhD students of the Doctoral Programme of Education.
Purpose: The aim of the course is to explore different methods for analyzing the qualitative data. The course consists of a lecture and several reading seminars. In reading seminars students familiarize themselves with scientific articles in which similar data analysis methods than they plan to use in their doctoral dissertation has been used.

NB! Workshops are mainly held in Finnish. In case any English-speaking student wish to take part of this course, the lecture and a part of the workshops are held in English and English-speaking students are expected to compensate for those workshops held in Finnish by doing some written tasks.

STRUCTURAL EQUATION MODELING 2 (SEM2)

Participants: All PhD students of the Doctoral Programme of Education. Completing SEM1 is a prerequisite for participating in SEM2. The participant is recommended to bring own research data suitable for SEM analyses to the course SEM2.
Purpose: The students become autonomous users of Structural Equation Modeling. The participants are recommended to work with their own data sets, the aim of the course then being to produce research outcomes suitable for scientific publication.

HUOM! Työryhmät ovat suomenkieliset. Kurssille osallistuvien tulee olla suorittanut SEM1-kurssi tai omata vastaavat tiedot.
NB! The course will be organized in Finnish. In case, at least five English-speaking students of the Doctoral Programme of Education with the basic knowledge of structural equation modeling (equivalent to the contents of the SEM 1 course) sign up for the course, separate workshops in English will be organized.
